Albanians take over Ulqin after many years, agreement between two parties is

For the first time in many years, the Municipality of Ulqin will be run by Albanians. The two parties, Drina Abbasovic's URA and MP Genci Nimanbegu's New Democratic Force, have found agreement to create a majority in the municipal council.

In Montenegro, municipal mayors are not directly elected by citizens' votes, but through municipal councils. The agreement follows long-running talks between political forces to unblock the majority creation in the Municipal Council and the election of the new mayor of the Municipality after the March 27th elections.

Under the agreement, in the first two years of the term, the Mayor of the Municipality will be from Prime Minister Drinen Abbasovic's party, while in the second two years by Genci Nimanbeg's party. Abbasovic's URA has nominated Omer Bajraktarin for speaker in the first two years.

This is the first time in many years that Milo Djukanvic's Democratic Party of Socialists has come out in opposition to The Oblast.
