Russia has not welcomed the messages given by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Pristina. The German Chancellor said that Serbia must recognize Kosovo's independence in order to join the European Union.

"Belgrade owes nothing to Brussels," said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, ironically asking "are these 'friends' of Serbia?"

"The Serbian people are already constantly being told what and how to do. "What will happen next?" The Russian Foreign Ministry official wrote in the Telegram. Reporting this reaction, the media in Moscow recall the call of the Serbian Minister of Interior, Aleksandar Vulin, for his country to review its plans for EU integration. The Russian media also reiterated the statement of the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, that the European Union is an important factor in the world, but that its importance is declining along with its economic power.
