Everyone was surprised when television screens in a government building showed a video of US President Donald Trump kissing Elon Musk 's feet .
The video, made with AI , was titled " Long Live the Real King ," in reference to a recent White House tweet that showed an AI version of Trump wearing a crown, with the caption " Long Live the King ."
It is known that the strange video was broadcast at the office of the Department of Housing and Urban Development and was widely shared by employees on social networks, foreign media write.
A department spokesman said: " Another waste of taxpayer dollars and resources. Appropriate action will be taken against all involved ."
The move comes days after US government staff were asked to report weekly or risk being fired.
Federal workers received a three-line email asking for five points summarizing their accomplishments over the past seven days.
In a post on his social media page X, Musk wrote: "Failure to respond will be taken as resignation."
And this is the latest phase in the billionaire's efforts to drastically shrink the government workforce through a course of mass layoffs.
Otherwise, in just over a month since Donald Trump returned to the White House, his team has made cuts in several key departments.
This weekend, the Department of Defense announced it would lay off thousands of workers as it seeks to reduce its civilian workforce by up to 8%.
