Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced an Orthodox Easter ceasefire with Ukraine, according to a Kremlin statement.
As it became known, "by decision of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, a ceasefire will come into effect from 16:00 on April 11 until the end of April 12, 2026."
The Kremlin noted that it expects the Ukrainian side to follow the same stance, adopting a corresponding ceasefire for the Easter period.
According to the statement, Russian military forces have been ordered to cease operations on all fronts, remaining on alert to respond to possible aggressive actions or provocations.
The Kremlin explained that Defense Minister Andrei Belousov and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, General Valery Gerasimov, have been given instructions to implement the cessation of military operations, while at the same time placing troops on alert to prevent possible actions by the Ukrainian side.
