Putin and Kim Jong Un hold bilateral meeting

Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un are holding a bilateral meeting in Beijing.

The two leaders were guests of honor at the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Putin and Kim took advantage of the opportunity to hold the meeting.

Kim also told Putin that bilateral cooperation has been strengthened under the June 2024 treaty, when they pledged mutual assistance against "aggression."

Last year, the two countries signed a historic agreement, which largely includes a mutual defense clause. At the time, Kim called the treaty "the strongest ever."

The two countries should further strengthen cooperation in various fields, the North Korean leader said during his meeting today.

The talks are taking place at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, where the Russian president is staying during his visit.
