"I wouldn't say that the US is currently at war with Russia," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview from Moscow broadcast on Thursday, in response to a question from American journalist Tucker Carlson.

"In any case, this is not what we want. We want to have normal relations, of course with all our neighbors, but also with all countries in general. President Putin has repeatedly expressed his respect for the American people, for American history, for American achievements in the world, and we see no reason why Russia and the US cannot work together for the good of the world," Lavrov said.

In response to Tucker Carlson's question about US funding for a war in which Russia is involved, Sergey Lavrov reiterated that "officially we are not at war with the US, but what is happening in Ukraine is what some call a hybrid war. But it is clear that the Ukrainians cannot do what they are doing without modern long-range weapons, without the direct participation of the Americans, and this is dangerous."

Russia is ready to use "all means" available to defend itself, Sergei Lavrov later said, referring to the use of Russia's new Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) to strike a target in Ukraine in late November.

"The message is that you, the United States and the US allies, who are supplying long-range weapons to the Kiev regime, need to understand that we are prepared to use all means to prevent them from achieving what they call a strategic defeat of Russia," he told US television host Tucker Carlson.

At the same time, Sergei Lavrov said he hoped the West would "take seriously" the recent use of the new missile against a target in Ukraine in late November.

"We are sending messages and we hope that the last one, two weeks ago," or in other words the launch of the "Oreshnik" intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) to hit a target in Ukraine, "they took it seriously."
