A mega-operation that took place yesterday morning between Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands arrested 38 people who were part of the drug gang.
The operation was carried out between the provinces of Trento, Brescia, Vicenza, Mantua, Prato and Bari, as well as in Belgium and the Netherlands by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Trento, with the cooperation of the competent territorial departments and foreign police forces, said the article published by Ansa.
Among those arrested were 15 Moroccans, 8 Albanians, 3 Tunisians, 1 Algerian, 1 Kosovar and 10 Italians. They are accused of being part of a network aimed at international drug trafficking and dealing. After their arrest, house searches were carried out, which made it possible to find and seize a total of 1 kg of cocaine, 160 grams of hashish, 32,000 euros in cash and a luxury watch.
The investigation launched in May 2020 by the Carabinieri of the Trento Investigative Unit, under the direction of the District Prosecutor's Office, made it possible to identify and dismantle two separate criminal organizations dedicated to drug trading and trafficking.
The first association, composed mainly of Albanian citizens located in Trentino, supplied many vacationers in the area with heroin, but also cocaine, hash and marijuana.
Heroin came from the Milan area and was redistributed in large quantities to Tunisian drug dealers operating retail in Trento, while cocaine was bought from suppliers in Campania and transported to Trento every week. The investigative activity, which also extended to the provinces of Brescia and Vicenza, during its development made possible the arrest of 11 people and the seizure of 23 kilograms of cocaine, one kilogram of heroin and one and a half kilograms of marijuana.
