After the Turkish president, Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşoğlu called on Greece to demilitarize the Aegean islands, saying that Ankara will take the necessary measures as Greece adds combat equipment to the islands.

He said the transfer of American armored vehicles to the demilitarized islands of Lesvos and Samos is "the final straw" and that it means Turkey will continue to retaliate.

"The transfer of American armored vehicles to the demilitarized islands of Lesvos and Samos was the 'last resort.' Our reactions to the Greek challenges will be continuous. We will take the necessary steps until Greece supplies the islands," said the Turkish Foreign Minister.
