Federal authorities in Washington have released video footage of Cole Allen's armed attack on U.S. Secret Service officers during an attempt to approach and kill President Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
In footage from the hotel where the event took place last Saturday, the 31-year-old is alleged to be violating security measures and moving through the corridors carrying a gun, as he tries to approach the event site.
During the shooting, a Secret Service agent was wounded in the chest, but survived thanks to the bulletproof vest he was wearing.
Cole Allen faces three federal charges, including attempted assassination of the President of the United States, transporting a firearm out of state, and use of a weapon during a violent crime. If convicted, he could face life in prison.
