The designer of the KLA emblem, Adnan Asllani, said that the idea for this logo began in the fall of 1997.

Asllani also indicated that there were many sketches, ideas for finalizing and creating a final logo. Furthermore, he emphasized that sending the logos to Kosovo was extremely difficult, comparing it to sending weapons.

"I have to go back to 1997. Discussions began in the fall of 1997, but the necessity of having an army emblem was raised after the KLA's public appearance at the funeral of teacher Halit Geci in Drenica, when for the first time three KLA soldiers took the floor and this raised the necessity for the KLA to have its own identifying symbols.

I contacted the leadership of the People's Movement of Kosovo and after 10 days of work, I came up with several variants of the KLA emblem, which I conceived and designed. This emblem, which is now official and historical, has received the approval of the leadership and with my consent and approval.

I did not participate in that meeting where the decision to have this emblem was made, but I know that it was a unanimous meeting and I was contacted through a member of the presidency and he transmitted this emblem, presented it to the presidency and received approval from all members of the presidency at that time and in a very short time it spread and became very famous.

The characteristic of this logo are those three letters and there are several lines that correspond to the eagle's wings, where in addition to the union with our national flag, there is also a union of the letters of the Kosovo Liberation Army, which means the army represents this flag that has been part of all battles since the time of Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg.

"I first saw this logo on some KLA soldiers who were crossing the Albanian-Albanian border. Sending the KLA emblems to Kosovo was the same as sending weapons. The introduction of this emblem was done with the same responsibility and risk as was required for the weapons," said Asllani.
