Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko, in an interview with the BBC, stated that Ukraine may be forced to make territorial concessions as part of a peace agreement with Russia, in the face of growing pressure, particularly from US President Donald Trump, who suggests accepting a compromise solution.

"One of the options is the surrender of part of the territory. It is not a fair solution. But for the sake of peace, perhaps as a temporary solution, it can be considered," Klitschko said.

However, the former world boxing champion, now a 53-year-old politician, stressed that Ukrainian citizens will never accept the Russian occupation as legitimate. His statement came shortly after a fierce missile and drone attack on the Ukrainian capital, which killed 12 people and injured more than 80 others — one of the worst attacks in Kiev in recent months.

Russia, which began its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, continues to control about 20% of the territory of the Ukrainian state.
