A brutal execution with mafia characteristics took place on Thursday afternoon in Chalandri on the outskirts of Athens, where Giorgos Moschouris, known by the authorities as one of the main figures of the so-called "Greek Mafia", was killed.
Moschouris, known by the nickname "Thamnakias", had just left a private diagnostic center when unknown persons, traveling in a vehicle, approached him and shot him with a Kalashnikov.
He was shot several times, some of the bullets hitting his face, causing his instant death.
Many shell casings were found at the scene, while a short time later, in the Patima area of Çalandri, a burned vehicle was found.

It is suspected that this may have been the vehicle of the escaped perpetrators.
Police are examining the possibility of settling scores within organized crime, as Moschouris had survived a similar assassination attempt in 2020 in Voula, outside a popular pastry shop.

The area of the incident has remained cordoned off, while investigations to identify and capture the perpetrators are ongoing.
Greek police are collecting footage from security cameras and interviewing witnesses to reconstruct the perpetrators' escape route.
