Liposuction surgery in Istanbul, Italian businesswoman dies, suspected of having
Milena Mancini

An Italian businesswoman has died after undergoing cosmetic surgery in Istanbul. Italian media reports that 56-year-old Milena Mancini passed away after twenty days in intensive care at Istanbul University Hospital.

She had left at the end of September together with her daughter, after opening a new Up Immobiliare agency in Frosinone.

The trip was to a private clinic in Istanbul where the entrepreneur had decided to undergo cosmetic surgery, abdominal liposuction, an almost routine procedure.

But something went wrong. About 36 hours after the operation, Milena Mancini began experiencing increasingly severe stomach pains, requiring the intervention of doctors at Medical Park Hospital. Initial reports from Istanbul suggest an injury: a perforated intestine that was apparently caused during the operation.

The woman was admitted to intensive care and her relatives were informed. They flew to Turkey a few days ago. As the days passed, her condition worsened and the entrepreneur died on Monday morning. The Italian consulate in Istanbul has been in contact with the woman's family since her situation deteriorated and is currently offering them assistance.

The body is expected to return to Italy in the coming hours and, according to reports, an agreement has been reached with Turkish authorities to allow the autopsy to be carried out in Turkey.

Italian media report that Milena Mancini was the daughter of industrialist Alvaro Mancini, one of the founders and directors of Indexa SpA, a company founded in the mid-1990s that operates in national and international markets as a partner for the development and maintenance of production complexes in strategic sectors, including pulp and paper, automotive, energy, microelectronics, chemical-pharmaceutical, nuclear and food.
