The Constitutional Court has rejected Kastriot Ismailaj 's request to overturn the 11-year prison sentence in the CEZ-DIA case.
The Criminal Court of Tirana sentenced the former administrator of the DIA company to 11 years in prison on October 25, 2017, for money laundering and falsifying documents in the collection of overdue debts of the CEZ distribution network.
He was accused by the Prosecution of being paid a full $6.5 million by the CEZ company for a service he had not performed.
The prosecution requested at the time that Kastriot Ismailaj be sentenced to 15 years in prison for the CEZ-DIA scandal, but the court reduced the sentence to 4 years.
Also, the former administrator of the DIA company, by decision of the Tirana Court, had $4 million confiscated.
According to the investigations, DIA did not carry out any work to collect the money, but the debts were collected by the CEZ administration itself.
On the other hand, the money provided for in the contract was transferred to DIA by the CEZ company for unfinished work.
The proof was Kastriot Ismailaj's email communications with the director of Haysek.
The money received from DIA to CEZ was distributed to the accounts of 15 other companies.
