Russia threatens: F-16 planes in Ukraine will lead to nuclear war

Russia estimates that the risk of a nuclear war is very high. The vice president of the Federation Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, threatens the West, saying that sending F-16 warplanes to Ukraine will lead to nuclear conflict. 

A close friend of President Vladimir Putin, he has often mentioned such warnings, emphasizing what he considers the Russian military's rash reaction.

Medvedev brings to attention the scenario of the accidental explosion of a nuclear war, which, according to him, should not be rejected.

"If one of these planes takes off from a NATO country for a mission in Ukraine, what exactly would it bring? An attack on Russia. I don't have to describe what would happen next", stated Dmitry Medvedev, Vice President of the Security Council of Russia.

Medvedev said Russia's clash with the US and its allies was not at a stage that would force people to hide in a nuclear shelter, but described the situation as worse than the 1962 Cuban missile crisis.

The doomsday clock is "ticking" and has been "significantly accelerated," he added.

The doomsday clock, which shows how close we are to a global catastrophe, is currently just 90 seconds from midnight. Medvedev spoke about the conflict in Ukraine, saying that the Russian army will continue to fight until it reaches Kiev, because according to him, that city has Russian roots.

He also claimed that Ukraine poses an existential threat to his country, while emphasizing that Putin's Army will not stop only in the capital. According to him, Odesa is also a Russian city that will return "home". On the ground, Moscow claims to have occupied the village of Pobjeda.

But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says Avdiivka is the only victory for Putin in the last 9 months. The intention of his army is to fortify the current positions and make no further concessions.

Meanwhile, the French defense ministry accuses Russia, saying that Putin's army has threatened to shoot down the Paris planes in the Black Sea. The aircraft are engaged in international airspace patrol actions.
