Another violent case of the American police: They kill a person "armed" with a plastic fork (VIDEO)

Los Angeles police released footage on its YouTube account of the killing of a homeless man who had attacked officers but was armed only with a plastic fork.

The victim's name was Jason Maccani, he was white, 36 years old.

The incident took place on February 3 on Towne Avenue, near the Skid Row area, one of the most populated areas of homeless people in downtown Los Angeles.

Officers responded to a call from a person who reported a homeless man who had entered a building and was wandering inside a building brandishing what appeared to be a knife.

The 36-year-old had threatened the employees of a nearby company and then left. When police arrived, also armed, they stood behind an interior staircase, waiting for the suspect to come forward.

At some point, as seen in footage captured by the officers' body cameras, Maccani appeared in the hallway. He holds his hands in the air in surrender, but then walks up to the cops, lowers his arms and walks towards them, despite them ordering him to stop.

At first he was hit with rubber bullets, but he kept moving forward. At that moment, an officer shot him with a gun. When they went to disarm him, they saw that he was holding a white plastic fork in his right hand, which he had kept half hidden. Motionless on the ground, with his hands behind his back, Maccani immediately showed breathing problems as he was bleeding. He died in the hospital.

The release of images, taken from multiple angles, show all the dynamics. The police officer who fired the fatal shots ended up at the center of accusations from civil rights organizations. Former members of the police emphasized how the officer had little time to react, but also the fact that he could have shot him in the leg and not in a vital part. Meanwhile, investigations by the authorities about the dynamics of the event have begun.
