Canada has responded to tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump with the same currency.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today announced a 25% tax on $30 billion worth of US imports, effective immediately.
Tariffs on another $125 billion in US goods will take effect within 21 days, he added.
Mexico's president said retaliatory tariffs against the US would be announced on Sunday.
At midnight, 25% tariffs on two of the US's neighbors, Canada and Mexico, went into effect. President Trump also imposed an additional 10% tariff on Chinese imports, doubling the 10% tax he had imposed on Beijing in early February.
Economists have warned that President Trump's aggressive moves could cause negative consequences globally, including fueling inflation that could hurt consumers.
