A vegan woman has been jailed for life after her young son died of malnutrition.

39-year-old Sheila O'Leary, who followed a very strict vegan diet, was found guilty of six counts, including first-degree murder and child abuse.

After the decision was announced by the Florida court, the woman said nothing in front of the court.

Meanwhile, her husband, Ryan Patrick O'Leary, is also in jail awaiting trial.

Her 18-month-old son weighed just 7.7kg when he died in 2019. 39-year-old Sheila O'Leary fed her child only fruit, vegetables and breast milk.
