A 2020 FBI document, included in the recently released files on Jeffrey Epstein, claims that the late billionaire, convicted of sexual abuse of minors, was “ trained as a spy” during the time Ehud Barak was Israeli Prime Minister, Middle East Eye reports .
The document, classified by the US agency as a report from a highly confidential source, contains information on “domestic or foreign influences on the US electoral process”. However, the source, according to the FBI, has “expanded the information on several other matters”.
According to the report, the source stated that he shared with authorities details of phone conversations between Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz and Jeffrey Epstein, during which he/she had taken notes. These details were allegedly then passed on to the Israeli secret service, Mossad.
The informant, who submitted the information on October 16, 2020, claimed that Ehud Barak considered the current Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, “a criminal.” According to him, after many conversations about Epstein, they were “ convinced that Epstein was an agent recruited by the Mossad.”
The source also added that he had heard Dershowitz tell another American lawyer that " Epstein belonged to both American intelligence services and those of allied countries."
The unidentified source, who appears only once in the Epstein files with a unique identification code, also reported other details, including that Alan Dershowitz himself was recruited by Mossad.
Dershowitz, a highly controversial figure and early friend and advisor to Netanyahu, has been part of the legal defense in several high-profile cases in the US, including the cases of Jeffrey Epstein, Harvey Weinstein and Donald Trump.
The source also alleged that the firm Day One Ventures was in Silicon Valley to “steal technology.” Day One Ventures was founded by Masha Bucher, Epstein’s former media relations aide, who the source said was “Vladimir Putin’s main contact in the Russian youth movement.”
The report also suggests a long-standing relationship between the family of Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's son-in-law and former adviser, and Israel. The source mentions Jared Kushner's father, Charles Kushner, referring to the "deep ties the Kushner family has to Israel and their history of corrupt business practices," without providing specific details about these allegations.
Other recently released files reveal that Epstein and Ehud Barak, who also served as Israel's defense minister from 2007 to 2013, had a close and long-term relationship.
The documents show that Epstein advised Barack on the technology company Palantir, asked him to secure a position for former British minister Lord Peter Mandelson at an energy company and discussed "massive" consulting fees to be paid to former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reacted to the X platform, stating:
"Jeffrey Epstein's close relationship with Ehud Barak does not prove that Epstein worked for Israel. On the contrary, it proves the opposite."
Netanyahu added that Barak " has for years obsessively tried to undermine Israeli democracy, collaborating with the radical anti-Zionist left in an effort to overthrow Israel's elected government," accusing the former prime minister of acting publicly and behind the scenes to weaken the Israeli government.
