Miracle hospital in Italy, 8 children with severe autoimmune diseases are cured

Eight children with severe autoimmune diseases that had not responded to traditional therapies have managed to recover completely thanks to cell therapy called CAR-T.

According to the study coordinated by the Bambino Gesù Hospital in collaboration with the University of Erlangen, seven of them are in complete remission after two years, while the eighth child has shown significant improvement.

The results have been published in the scientific journal "Nature Medicine" and are considered of exceptional importance for the treatment of severe pediatric autoimmune diseases.

The children involved in the study, aged 5 to 17, suffered from systemic lupus, dermatomyositis and juvenile systemic sclerosis.

Experts emphasize that this therapy could open a new era in the treatment of autoimmune pathologies, especially when conventional treatments fail.
