Ivanka Trump used money from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for recording equipment for a White House event, USAID documents show.

The revelation that Ivanka Trump's initiatives used USAID funds for events comes at a time when the agency itself is facing increased scrutiny and pressure from the Donald Trump administration.

Trump and those close to him are debating whether to shut down USAID completely, or whether to drastically cut funding, as they accuse it of having spent American taxpayer money in the past, often to attack Republicans.

According to USAID documents, Ivanka Trump used over $11,000 from the department in 2019 to purchase video recording and playback equipment for an event at the White House.

The documents show that $11,539 was used by Trump in November 2019 to purchase software, CDs, and tapes.

The purchase was approved by Jenifer Healy, who served as USAID's deputy chief of staff at the time, and the Office of the Administrator. It is not clear for which White House event the equipment was used.

"For decades, USAID bureaucrats believed they were accountable to no one, but that era is over," the White House wrote in a statement a few days ago. "President Trump is stopping waste, fraud, and abuse," the statement said.
