These days it has been widely reported that former US First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend the inauguration of US President Donald Trump .
According to the media, this is a principled stance of the former First Lady towards a president whom she has repeatedly accused.
But the Daily Mail newspaper reports that the story may be deeper than that.
According to her, the Obama couple's marriage is in crisis.
At the center of this crisis are speculations about an affair between former President Barack Obama and the famous actress, Jennifer Aniston. But that's not all. The family feud may have started even earlier.
"The couple have also had to deal with persistent rumors about Barack's wandering eye. Last October, "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston publicly dismissed as "absolutely untrue" claims by a US gossip magazine that she and Barack were in a relationship - leaving Michelle feeling "betrayed".
The rumours were fuelled by the hosts of a popular pop culture podcast – Who? 'Weekly' – who claimed the Obamas were 'living separate lives' while he and Aniston were in a full-blown relationship. Aniston told a US talk show host: "I met her once. I know Michelle better than she does."
In a 2017 biography of Obama by Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Garrow, Sheila Miyoshi Jager — a former girlfriend Barack was close to marrying before he met Michelle — revealed that they had maintained an intimate, if casual, relationship between 1991 and 1992, when he had been dating Michelle for several years. “I always felt bad about it,” she said.
In late 2013, the National Enquirer claimed that the Obamas’ marriage had broken down after Michelle discovered that his Secret Service bodyguards were covering up his infidelities. They were fighting endlessly, it was alleged, after he posed for a selfie with the glamorous blonde Danish Prime Minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, at a memorial service for Nelson Mandela. Mrs. Obama was photographed sitting on the other side, a frown on her face.
Mrs. Obama, the Enquirer claimed, would stay by her husband's side until his presidency ended, when he would return to Hawaii and she would stay in Washington. More than a decade later, they are still together – though she stays in Hawaii.
"Whatever the state of their marriage, it won't have been helped by the sight of Trump and Obama laughing together at Jimmy Carter's funeral," the newspaper writes./ DailyMail
