The world is anxious: Will Donald Trump give the order to launch an attack on

US President Donald Trump is very close to ordering a major war against Iran, an operation that is expected to last weeks and look more like a full-scale war than the operation aimed at Venezuela last month.

Sources for Israeli broadcaster N12 stressed that this could be a joint campaign between the US and Israel, on a much broader scale and with existential impact for the Iranian regime, compared to the 12-day war last June, where the US joined in to destroy Iran's underground nuclear facilities.

Such a conflict would have dramatic consequences for the entire region and could affect the remaining three years of Trump's term.

Trump reportedly came close to launching an attack on Iran in early January after the Iranian regime killed thousands of protesters. After delaying the operation, the US administration pursued a two-pronged approach: nuclear talks and a massive military buildup in the Middle East. So far, a deal with Iran seems far from being achieved.

At this moment, Trump's "army" includes two aircraft carriers, a dozen warships, hundreds of fighter jets, and numerous air defense systems. In the last 48 hours alone, 50 F35, F22, and F16 fighter jets have been sent to the region, while more than 150 military transport flights have transferred weapons and ammunition.

Trump advisers Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff held a three-hour meeting in Geneva with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, where "progress" was reported in the talks, but differences remain large.

Vice President JD Vance said that diplomacy may have reached its limits and that the president may decide to take military action if no agreement is reached.

Experts warn that such a conflict could change the dynamics of the Middle East and have serious consequences for regional stability, including the allies and strategic partners of the US and Israel.
