The head of the European Union's foreign policy, Josep Borrell, said in a statement to the media that the EU-Western Balkans summit aims to create closer ties between the union and the region.
"This important summit aims to create closer ties between the EU and the region, our future EU members.
Enlargement is a geo-strategic investment in peace, security and prosperity," he said.
He also spoke about the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue as he said that both sides are moving, albeit slowly, adding that we should push them to move forward and have a clear European perspective.
"There has been good news, both sides are moving slowly but they are moving and we must push them to move forward and have a clear European perspective.
It is important for foreign policy and we have commitments with many people and we need to accelerate.
And we encourage them to continue because we want to move forward with the integration of these two countries. We as Brussels must keep our promises and fulfill our obligations", added Borrell.
