New details have come to light in the murder of Denaldo Maxhallaku, the 31-year-old Albanian who was found dead in a well in the Longiano area, in the province of Cesena, Italy.

A 29-year-old Italian man has been detained by authorities, suspected of killing an Albanian and then hiding his body.

According to Italian media, the suspect admitted responsibility during questioning. " It was me ," he is reported to have declared, admitting the crime.

According to preliminary investigations, the cause of the conflict may have been a debt of around 500 euros, related to the supply of narcotics. According to the reconstruction of the event published by the Italian media, the argument between the two people ended in fatal violence.

During questioning, the 29-year-old allegedly claimed that he felt threatened and feared for himself and his family.

"I was afraid for myself and my family, I felt threatened," he is quoted as saying, trying to explain the circumstances that, according to him, preceded the crime.

According to the reconstruction published by the Italian newspaper Il Resto del Carlino, the suspect also stated that he lost control during the conflict. He is suspected of shooting the Albanian with a firearm, hiding the body in a well and then burning the victim's vehicle to cover his tracks.

Denaldo Maxhallaku, who lived in Gatteo and worked as a painter, disappeared in early October. According to Italian reports, he left his apartment on October 8, telling his wife: “I’m going to the bar, see you in the evening.” He never returned home.

A day after his disappearance, his vehicle was found burned in an area a few kilometers from where the body was later discovered. For nearly three weeks, the carabinieri continued their search in the surrounding area, checking fields, canals, and wells.

The body was found on October 28, at the bottom of a well in the Felloniche area, in the territory of Longiano. A shell casing was also found near the place where the victim was discovered, while preliminary suspicions are that the Albanian was killed with a firearm.

The victim left behind his wife and a young daughter, only one year old. Speaking about her husband, his wife described him as a man dedicated to his family and work.
