The garbage of the city of Vlora has often made the news, especially the plumes of smoke every summer season.

The old landfill, in the former airfield in the middle of Vlora, but also the Sherishta landfill that took forever to be inaugurated, at a cost of 25 million euros, turned the coastal city into a large landfill, waste bins, fires.

A few weeks ago, another major fire broke out in Vlora, right in the rubble, while the whole of Vlora was engulfed in a great chaos, while the blame fell on the municipal leaders, who only rubbed their eyes every summer season.

The cold "shower" given to them by the prime minister woke them up a little, while the entire management team left their posts, while work has begun on recruiting new directors.

But, in this whole situation, the "fear" of the Municipality of Vlora is again, as they fear a possible fire at the garbage field, which would bring more criticism from the Prime Minister to the municipal staff. But, the construction of the landfill in Sherishte has also not pleased anyone, as it is outside any parameters.

And look what a trick the mayor of Vlora has come up with! To "trick" Prime Minister Edi Rama, Ermal Dredha has opened a tender to fill the garbage field with soil.

The tender does not provide details on which field will be filled with soil, the former Aviation field or the Sherishta field.

But, what is noticeable is that in both cases we have an abuse, as the field in the middle of Vlora is not "covered", while the landfill has already been inaugurated and has begun functioning, which shows the abuses in its construction.

Facsimile: Announcement of the open tender by the Municipality of Vlora for the filling of the garbage field with soil

According to documents available to VoxNews , the municipal public enterprise for Urban Waste Management, Vlora, has opened a tender worth under 10 thousand euros for "daily landfill cover".

The tender will take place on July 15, 2025, while excavation of foundation and plinth soil with a chain excavator and unloading with vehicles is required.

Excavation of 1600 cubic meters is required. Soil transport by vehicles up to 1 kilometer per 1600 cubic meters is also required.

Given the facility, excavation and transport of up to 1 km, it seems that the soil will be used for the field in the middle of Vlora, to cover with soil a huge area of waste that catches fire every summer season.

But, to "outwit" Rama in these times requires excessive courage, while the prime minister is on alert and on the lookout.

But, even if the soil is sent to the Sherishta Landfill, which cost 25 million euros, doesn't the Municipality of Vlora have the means and workers to do these works?

Why do they do it through tender, when in fact the Vlora Urban Waste Management Company should have hundreds of employees and dozens of vehicles at its disposal.

It seems that the laziness of the people of Vlorë crosses all limits, where they demand that everything be done for them by others.
