In July of last year, the accelerator equipment at the Oncology Hospital at the QSUT suffered damage. The incident was reported, but the reaction was extremely slow. And, the whole situation came after a voluminous file from the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, where wiretaps revealed a real scheme of how doctors forced patients to go to private hospitals.
Even breaking everything in Oncology, such as vital equipment. Their malfunction means fatal consequences for patients, who do not receive medication on time. Also, in these times, there have been constant shortages of medications, again vital ones, while no one was impressed, as in this way patients were channeled back to private hospitals.
But, criminal in this case is also the lack of timely reaction of the QSUT directorate, which during this time seems to have focused on the buildings and facades and not on the patients. This directorate even authorized the ADF to build a hotel or parking lot on the hospital premises, when it could very well have forced this institution, or the government, to supply the hospital wards, which continue to suffer, with equipment and medications.

After more than 6 months of equipment breakdown in the Oncology Department, the state has finally remembered to hold a tender. VoxNews has learned that the Centralized Purchasing Operator has opened the procurement procedure for "replacement of some components of linear accelerators in the Oncology Department."
It is learned that the limit fund for this procedure is 47,563,000 lek, as it concerns services related to software, hardware installation, radiotherapy equipment installation services, medical packages or even packages for specific industries.
But why so late? What prevented the leaders of the QSUT from asking the government for additional funds? Or even a special fund for these vital devices?
The media reported last summer that the radiation device, the linear accelerator, was out of order. At that time, the QSUT admitted that the accelerator had suffered a defect on June 27. This device often does not work, but even when it is put into operation, there are still constant problems. It is learned that there are two accelerators in the Oncology Department.

At the same time as the opening of the procedure to purchase equipment, the Centralized Purchasing Operator will soon open the tender with the object of "purchase of medicines to cover the increased needs for some medicines in the Oncology, Hematology, etc. service, at QSUNT, with a term of 24 months".
It is learned that the value is 92,757,572 lekë, or if we convert it to euros, about 960 thousand euros. Pharmaceutical items and products are required. These are those drugs that have been in constant shortage, those that were recommended by Oncology doctors, but were not in the QSUT pharmacy, but were in private pharmacies around the hospital.
However, the two delayed procedures have already been announced in the register of forecasts, where again it is not known when they will be done, how long the deadline will be, or other details. These delays are extremely criminal, as patients of that hospital cannot wait for weeks or months for equipment and medications, but they should have been done on time!
