Iran "attacks" Albania, paralyzes the Municipality of Tirana; Millions of euros fall from systems, no fines, no registrations...

The Republic of Iran has also “attacked” Albania, not with bombs, but by attacking the online systems of the Municipality of Tirana. The cyber “war” is taking place at the same time as the shells and bombs in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf. Sources from the Municipality of Tirana told VoxNews that the systems that have cost millions of euros, for registrations or even for imposing fines, have fallen. For several days, the Municipal Police of Tirana has been paralyzed and cannot take any action on its systems.

In fact, employees and inspectors cannot even enter the fines that have been imposed in Tirana into the system, creating chaos. In fact, other systems that transfer data from the Municipal Police to the central apparatus of the municipality have also crashed, with thousands of data and documents now in the "hands" of Iranian hackers. There is unofficial information that the attack came from Iran, and they have even published this attack on channels on the "Telegram" platform.

For several days, Iranian hackers have been publishing sensitive data about the actions of the Municipality of Tirana. “Yes, you were right! All activities were carried out by the Municipality of Tirana and today they are being punished for their actions. We have taken down their website, extracted their data and deleted their servers,” one announcement says.

Meanwhile, they then declare that “Tirana Municipality is out of reach now, city services have been disrupted”. These attacks, Iranian hackers attribute to the Albanian state’s stance on sheltering the Iranian opposition in Durrës. “You recognized them as legal refugees and gave them facilities such as fake IDs and passports. The current situation was caused by the leaders of the Albanian government. Greetings to the disruption of city services and traffic” they continue.

Dozens of announcements have been published by the hackers, all referring to the attack they carried out on the systems of the Municipality of Tirana. “The beloved Municipality of Tirana is ours now! All this terrible corruption for a simple municipality?! Unbelievable! This is what happens when the majority of your budget is dedicated to the welfare of MEK terrorists,” they continue.

"Municipal services, including road and transportation services, issuing licenses and passports, and services vital to people's lives were disrupted and will continue to be disrupted. What was the cause of these events?! The selfishness of a selfish communist oligarchy that opened its wings to a terrorist-communist group," the hackers wrote.

They claim to have a large amount of data under their control. “The information available includes 2,726 computers and 4,720 users under 'Symantec' internet protection from the municipality and other subcategories,” they continue.

But aren't millions of euros spent on cyber defense?!

The continuous attacks of Iranian hackers have exposed the systems of the government and local government. Although the National Agency for Information Technology and Communications or even the municipalities themselves spend millions of euros to set up and maintain the systems, the ease with which they are taken over by hackers has revealed possible abuses by the firms that are supposed to maintain them. But, if they cost millions of euros, how can they be hacked? Moreover, it's so simple!

It seems that Albania's "war" with Iran is in cyberspace, where state systems have often fallen. First the State Police, then Taxes, Road Transport, the Ministry of Interior, and now it's the turn of the Municipality of Tirana.
