At a time when the prices of basic products continue to worry citizens' pockets, another indicator shows that luxury has not lost its charm!
Albanians are spending more and more on... wristwatches! But not just any watch — watches from the world's most famous brands, which are often more of a status symbol than a functional accessory.
According to INSTAT data, during the first 5 months of this year alone, around 325 million lekë were imported per hour – or around 3.25 million euros.
Compared to the same period last year, this is a 27% increase in value.
An interesting fact is that, although expenses have increased, the quantity of imported watches has decreased.
In the first five months of this year, 34 tons of watches were imported - while a year ago, this amount was 44 tons.
So, fewer hours, but much more expensive.
This shows a clear shift towards high-end watches, away from more economical ones or imitations.
From luxury cars to small accessories on the wrist, it seems that for some Albanians, watches are not just for telling time — but for showing their time... of success./Scan
