All those who normally in winter spend more than 800 kW of energy, which corresponds to a bill of 7,600 lek per month, will pay the additional energy much more expensively.

The Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku has clarified that every kilowatt over 800 kWh will be paid at the market price. She announced that the price of energy will increase to 42 lek (today's market price) for all families that spend over 800 kWh, from 9.5 lek, which is today's fee for the entire amount of energy consumed, or 4.4 times more. The market price varies and if energy on the exchanges becomes more expensive in the winter, it could be even higher.

For example, if a family will consume 900 kWh per month, the final monthly payment will now be 11,800 ALL, from 8,550 ALL before, or 38% more, since just for 100 KW extra, the family will pay 4,200 ALL .

If consumption increases to 1,000 kWh per month, the final bill will be 16,000 ALL, from 9,500 ALL today, or 68% more, since 8,400 ALL will be paid for an additional 200 kWh.

The more the consumption increases, the higher the monthly bill will be. If the consumption goes to 1000, the total bill will be 20.2 thousand lek, from 10.4 thousand lek that was before, or almost double. 12.6 thousand ALL will be paid for the additional 300 KW.

The Minister of Energy said that only 4% of households in the country spend more than 800 kWh per month, but in winter many households receive an average bill higher than 7,600 ALL per month, while in summer the bill decreases. The majority of Albanians warm themselves with energy.
