Tourism boom, foreigners in hotels increased by 76.4%, Poles and Italians lead

Albania's tourism boom this year was clearly reflected in June as well.

The monthly data published by the Institute of Statistics for accommodation structures show a 76.4 percent increase in non-resident visitors.

"The number of total visitors has increased by 49.7%, compared to June 2022. The following two indicators follow the same trend: the number of resident visitors has increased by 12.2%; the number of non-resident visitors has increased by 76.4%", states the publication of INSTAT.

Meanwhile, the total number of overnight stays has increased by 52.8%, compared to June 2022, where the number of overnight stays by residents has increased by 36.0% and by non-residents by 60.7%.

Regarding the nationality of the visitors, INSTAT notes that apart from Kosovo Albanians, who historically have the highest number, the Poles are the ones who lead from the EU countries with 9.2 percent, the Italians second with 8.3 percent and then come Germany with 7 percent and Spain with 4.3 percent.

All to the South

According to INSTAT, visitors during the month of June were mainly directed to the South of the country and the coastal area.

"During the month of June 2023, there was an increase in the number of visitors in total by 49.7%, compared to June 2022. The number of non-resident visitors who were accommodated in the South Region showed the highest increase by 2.5 times . In the Coastal Areas, this indicator has increased by 75.0%, compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of non-resident visitors who have been accommodated in "Hotels and similar accommodations" has increased by 70.0%", the publication states.

According to INSTAT in June 2023, the highest number of visitors by region is in the "Center Region" (40.2%), by areas close to the coast in "Coastal Areas" (63.1%) and by type of structures accommodation in "Hotels and similar accommodation" (91.2%).

“Gjatë muajit Qershor 2023, numri i netë qëndrimeve gjithsej është rritur me 52,8%, në krahasim me muajin Qershor 2022. Numri i netë qëndrimeve të vizitorëve jo-rezident të cilët janë akomoduar në Rajonin e Jugut ka shënuar rritjen më të lartë me 2,7 herë. Në Zonat Bregdetare ky tregues është rritur me 46,7%, krahasuar me të njëjtën periudhë të vitit të mëparshëm. Numri i netë qëndrimeve të vizitorëve jo-rezident të cilët janë akomoduar në “Hotele dhe akomodime të ngjashme” ka shënuar rritje me 56,4%”, vlerëson INSTAT.

Numri më i madh i netqëndrimeve ka qenë në rajonin e Jugut me 43.3 për qind. Sa i takon zonave të afërsisë me bregdetin ato zënë 72.5 për qind ndërsa sa i takon llojit të strukturave kryesojnë “Hotele dhe akomodime të ngjashme” (92,0%).
