Elon Musk can add a new title to his CV – Guinness World Record holder.

Tesla's "Technoking" entered the Guinness Book of Records, as in 2022, his fortune shrank by $182 billion - the Organization announced on Friday, in a statement referring to Forbes data.

Guinness noted that, although "the exact figure (of Musk's loss) is almost impossible to accept," with some estimates talking of a loss of more than $200 billion, the Twitter owner has broken the previous record. – the 58.6 billion dollar loss of Japanese investor Masayoshi Son in 2000.

The decline in Musk's wealth is largely due to the decline in Tesla shares, which lost about 65% of their value during the worst year in the company's history.

The loss was enough for him to lose the title of the world's richest man, which is now held by luxury tycoon Bernard Arnault.

Of course, Musk isn't the only billionaire who has suffered losses in 2022.

American billionaires lost a total of $660 billion last year, as CNBC Make It previously reported.

The decline of the 53-year-old's fortune "saved" the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, from the Guinness World Record. Losing $80 billion in 2022 would have given Bezos the title of "biggest loser" if it weren't for Musk.

Even the CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, has broken the record of Masayoshi Son, with a loss of 78 billion dollars.

At the end of 2021, Musk's fortune reached 320 billion dollars. As of January 10, Forbes estimates his net worth at $142.1 billion, making him the second richest man in the world, ahead of Indian billionaire Gautam Adani ($125.1 billion).
