The Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Tirana, Andi Seferi, explained how the scheme for obtaining free subscriptions for pensioners will work. Invited to the show "Good Morning Albania", Seferi informed that there are 177 thousand pensioners who will have the opportunity from January 1, 2025 to be provided with a free subscription for public transport.

He added that pensioners who want to be provided with a free subscription, will have to first appear at the administrative units to check the ID card and through the system the registration of people who travel by public transport is done.

"We have a full month to work. It is a platform that is being prepared. They must appear near the administrative units where they will check the ID card and they register the person moving through the system. Of the 177,000, not all move and tickets cannot be issued for them.

Anyone who needs to travel by public transport, goes to the unit, checks the ID card number and goes to withdraw the subscription. We are doing the minimum of procedures so that we are as close as possible and there are as few technicalities as possible", said Seferi. The Deputy Mayor emphasized that public transport in the capital is going through a complete revolution.

"The public transport part is not just a segmental decision, but a process since 2015 until today. There are 177,980 thousand pensioners who will benefit. We have 14% of the elderly who travel by public transport, for the elderly over 60 and the elderly over 65, which will come into effect on January 1, 2025. Public transport in Tirana is going through a complete revolution. Always more and more to channelize and prioritize public transport. In one day, there are about 200,000 movements in the urban areas of Tirana", he added.
