In the first six months of this year, the import of sun umbrellas increased by almost 50%, compared to a year ago, reaching the value of 255 million ALL. Unlike previous years, foreign trade data shows a strong increase in purchases of items needed for the summer season. We emphasize that this year the upward trend of imports has been established much earlier than usual and records have been recorded throughout the months.

"Scan Intel" has analyzed foreign trade data for the month of June, focusing mainly on the product of sun umbrellas. Given that the expectations for the number of tourists were high, but in the first six months only 4.5 million entries from foreign citizens were recorded, can we say that their import has been excessive?

The figures show that not only was the month of April a record import, but June also performed well in this regard. The data speak not only of an increase in imports of tourist season items in value, but a record was recorded compared to the same month of previous years. Specifically, in annual terms during this June, the imported amount of sun umbrellas increased by 214% and their value reached 71.5 million ALL

But the record is not only reflected if we compare the June figure with June of previous years. If we analyze the imports of these products since January 2005, we see that the import figure of sun umbrellas in June 2024 is the third highest record.

But where do we get the sun umbrellas? INSTAT figures show that the main partner is Italy with 37% of the weight, followed by Bosnia Herzegovina, China and Turkey.
