Albania is the first choice of Italians for what is known as dental tourism. The data of the authorities across the Adriatic show that during the past year more than 200 thousand Italians had their teeth fixed abroad.
Of these, 50,000 have chosen Albania, while the rest are oriented towards Croatia, Turkey and Romania.
Experts say the main reason is related to prices. In Italy, this service is offered up to 10 times more expensive than in Albania.
However, according to the Italian Association of Dentists, one in three Italians who choose to have their teeth fixed abroad needs their teeth repaired due to the poor quality of the work.
Experts estimate that an Italian spends at least one thousand euros for teeth abroad. Based on these figures, dental tourism in Albania brought at least 50 million euros to the economy last year.
