Editorial/ Politics resembles the oldest profession in the world, where everyone tries to do whatever they can to survive in times of crisis and benefit in other times. These politicians of ours "eat" what they have cooked for others, chew what they have said and sit where they have spat. Obedience and flattery are other virtues of theirs.

Although we are a small country and everyone knows what is happening in the dome, due to the systems that political parties have set up, those who lead us or have led us do not even take responsibility for what they say. Today they insult their opponents with a book, accuse them of half the articles of the Criminal Code or make criminal connections for family members.

Meanwhile, tomorrow you see them together, in the Parliament café, and the day after tomorrow they collaborate on changing laws that are mostly made for third parties or for themselves and not for the well-being of the citizens, those who voted for them.

The dictatorship taught us submission, clans or beheadings, while the transition is hardening us with patience, where the "spine" has been completely lost and everyone is trying to "push as hard as possible". The armchair used to be comfortable, with personal, family or even friendly benefits, with wealth, jobs and comfort. Both in government and in opposition.

But, when you swallow what you have "cooked" for others, what happens? In Albania, nothing, since changing your stance has become something "normal". The most recent case comes from the historic leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, who seems to not even remember what he says or who he accuses.

A few weeks ago, we saw and heard him justifying with incoherent sentences that people were being arrested without evidence or facts. Meanwhile, in recent days, we heard the speech that the President of the Supreme Court, Sokol Sadushi, will release the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, from prison.

"Tomorrow, Sadushi, who absolutely threatens the security of Albania and the countries of the region, will come out with the decision that those who are in detention without a final decision will be released."

"This is the Veliaj decision. But dozens of drug lords, heads of criminal organizations, benefit from the Veliaj decision," Berisha said, among other things.

But does his closest associate, Ilir Meta, benefit from this "Veliaj" decision?! Of course, with this speech Berisha asks for Veliaj to stay in prison, but indirectly leaves Ilir Meta in prison as well. Do you remember what he declared a few months ago? This rhetoric of his comes at a time when SPAK is also attacking exponents or former state leaders from the ranks of the Democratic Party.

A few weeks ago, Berisha himself supported the idea that throughout Europe the criminal system operates with investigations in a free state, while the moment there is an accusation, then the coercive measures are given. This is exactly what Sadushi will do, Berisha's "request". But, as long as it comes to opponents, the attitude changes.

Now, which version is correct? Do you want Veliaj and Meta in prison, or the former President at large and the Mayor of Tirana in prison?!
