The mandate of the International Monitoring Operation (IMO) began with the establishment of new bodies for the re-evaluation process of the entities defined in the Constitution and the respective laws.
According to Annex B and Article 179/b of the Constitution, the ONM supports the re-evaluation process and is led by the European Commission; its mandate ends with the end of the mandate of the KPA.
The role of the ONM throughout this process has been important as it guaranteed a separate and impartial scan of the situation and concrete cases during that reassessment process.
But, after the end of the ONM mandate, which international organization has access and the ability to make recommendations in the complaints and disciplinary investigations phase at #ILD? Today, no international organization has the ability to support or supervise the ILD in its work and decisions.
Considering that the ILD, in the constitutional and legal project in the country, has a fundamental role in guaranteeing transparency, accountability, and strengthening inspection practices in prosecutors' offices and courts, but, according to official data and public opinion in the country and beyond, this mission is failing spectacularly.
In light of the above, it can and should be considered that the mandate and mission of the ONM be extended and, this time, assigned to the ILD, KLP and KLGJ with the same competencies it had previously.
