The apartment of a 20-year-old man in Durrës functioned as a base where firearms and combat ammunition were kept, which were suspected of serving to supply criminal groups.

The police announce that the young man with the initials EP was arrested in flagrante delicto during the police operation, while 4 pistol firearms, 1 model 56 automatic firearm (Kalashnikov), 1 shotgun, 6 combs, hundreds of combat cartridges of various calibers, 1 Italian vehicle license plate and 1 mobile phone were found and seized in the apartment.

The weapons will undergo examination at the Institute of Scientific Police, to verify whether they were used in previous criminal events.

Full police statement:

In continuation of the work to crack down on criminal activity in the field of illegal possession of weapons and the prevention of serious criminal events, based on information obtained operationally, the services of the Manzë Police Station, in cooperation with the operational structures of the Durrës Police Department, successfully organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Baza".

As a result of this operation, a base was discovered where firearms and ammunition were stored, which were suspected of being used to supply criminal groups.

During the search carried out at the apartment of citizen EP, 20 years old, resident of Manzë, Durrës, the Police services found and seized, as material evidence, 4 pistol firearms, 1 automatic firearm model 56 (Kalashnikov), 1 shotgun, 6 combs, hundreds of combat cartridges of different calibers, 1 Italian vehicle license plate and 1 mobile phone.

At the conclusion of the procedural actions, citizen EP was arrested in flagrante delicto.

The weapons will undergo examination at the Institute of Scientific Police, to verify whether they were used in previous criminal events.

Work continues to identify and bring to justice other persons involved in this criminal activity.

The procedural materials will be referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Durrës, for the criminal offenses "Unlicensed production and possession of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition" and "Unlicensed production and possession of hunting and sporting weapons".
