Xhevdet Skëndaj , the passerby who was injured today in the assassination attempt in Saranda, where Artan Myrtaj was executed, has been taken by helicopter to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana.

It is reported that the 73-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the lower limbs.

After first aid at the Saranda hospital, the elderly man will receive more specialized treatment at the Trauma Hospital in Tirana.

What makes the case even more serious are the drone footage, which shows that the murder occurred near the Saranda Police Station, only about 67 meters from the building.

The police station building can be seen in the video, while just a few meters below is the place where the crime was committed.

The police have launched an operation to identify and capture the perpetrators, while the investigative group is working to reconstruct the full dynamics of the event and to clarify the motive for the assassination.

Checkpoints have been set up in the direction of Vlora and Gjirokastra to enable the capture of the perpetrators.

It is learned that the 44-year-old, known as "Tani Ruzhdiut", had just sat down for coffee at a bar near the intersection of the former agency, when the two perpetrators, who had come from "Lefter Talo" street, approached him on a motorcycle and shot him at least twice.

 Myrtaj was arrested by the Saranda Police in 2025, for supporting the perpetrator, after injuring Gëzim Hajdaraj and Ernest Lamaj, 32 and 24 years old.

The double assault occurred on July 17, 2025, on a property on the Saranda coastline. Myrtaj was arrested for the criminal offense of "Supporting the perpetrator of the crime."
