The serious incident where 22 horses were shot with shotguns in the Llogara area, near the "Piri Pits", has caused numerous reactions from citizens and animal protection organizations.
The president of the "Tirona" Hunters' Association and member of the presidency of the National Hunting Federation, Armand Burri, has also reacted to this serious event.
The latter, condemning the serious act, says that the hunters' association has clear criteria for hunting, while emphasizing that whoever is part of the association is informed about the laws and the correct way to practice hunting.
The man emphasizes that after this serious case, the State Police and competent bodies should act decisively so that such events do not happen again.
"First, I want to emphasize that the recent incident in Llogara, where 20 horses were shot, is a serious and intolerable act. Our association is outraged and completely distances itself from this illegal and inhumane act.
To be part of hunting legally and in a controlled manner, each individual must be a member of a hunting association and have passed the hunter's test. Each municipality has local associations that are part of the National Hunting Federation, and these associations apply clear rules and defined criteria on where and what can be hunted, and only during the permitted period from August 15 to March 1.
We are coming after 12 years of moratorium, and are currently intensively engaged in testing and informing hunters, as well as their regular membership. Whoever is part of the association is informed about the laws and the correct way to practice hunting.
Our association has repeatedly denounced cases of illegal hunting, such as:
- night hunting with spotlights,
- the use of thermal binoculars, which are prohibited by law,
- and other actions outside any legal criteria.
A legal hunter is only one who has passed the test, has a membership card, and respects the established rules.
Obtaining a hunting gun does not automatically give you the right to go hunting. Without membership and certification as a hunter, the gun can only be kept in the home, as is the case with self-defense weapons.
"I hope that after this serious case, the State Police and the competent bodies will act decisively so that such events do not repeat themselves," declared Armand Burri.
