A 52-year-old man from the village of Mallkeq has been arrested by the Vlora Police, suspected of deliberately setting fire to a plot of land, with the aim of opening new pastures.

According to the Police, citizen AS, 52 years old, is suspected of being the perpetrator of the arson attack at the place called "Qafa e Petës", in the village of Petë, on July 6, 2026.

As a result of the spread of the flames, an area of ​​land with wild vegetation and olive trees was burned. The fire took on large proportions, endangering the homes in the area, while the intervention of the firefighting forces made it possible to bring the flames under control.

At the conclusion of the investigative actions, the 52-year-old was arrested for the criminal offense of "Destruction of property by fire."

Meanwhile, the Police have announced a search for two other people, RS, 62 years old, and IS, 35 years old, residents of the village of Mallkeq, respectively the brother and cousin of the arrested person.

According to the Police, while escorting AS, the two people opposed the Police officers, obstructing them from carrying out their duties, and then left.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Vlora, for further action.
