The University Hospital Center in Tirana has reacted to the death of a 12-year-old boy, who was being treated for a virus.

The QSUT states that the minor was diagnosed with acute myocarditis, a rare and dangerous disease, which is associated with a high mortality rate.

Reaction to the media regarding the case of patient LS, 12 years old

QSUT expresses its deepest condolences to the family of 12-year-old LS at this difficult time.

Given the public interest in the tragic case of the 12-year-old's death, we inform you that patient LS was hospitalized at the Pediatric Hospital of QSUT on January 7, 2024 and passed away on January 8, 2025, at 01:45, in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. After the examinations performed, the patient was diagnosed with acute myocarditis, a rare and dangerous disease, which is associated with a high mortality rate.

Despite maximum care and treatments performed according to medical protocols, the patient's death was impossible to prevent.

Understanding the family's pain and the public's interest, QSUT reaffirms its commitment to transparency and to providing the best treatments for every patient.
