Although the " Fiscal Peace " law was opposed by the IMF , the American Chamber of Commerce , and the European Union, President Bajram Begaj decreed it.

The decree was signed in support of Article 84, point 1 and Article 93 of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania, paving the way for the entry into force of this law.

The Fiscal Peace Law aims to regulate financial and fiscal relations, as well as create facilities for entities that have overdue obligations to the state.

The decree bears number 21 and was signed in Tirana, on January 12, 2026.
