30-year-old arrested for transporting 4 gold bars and 9 smuggled gold coins

A 30-year-old man was arrested in Roskovec, Fier, as part of Operation "Gold", after police found 9 coins and 4 gold bars, as well as thousands of euros and lek, in his vehicle, for which he did not have documentation on the origin.

During the search of Armando Biçaku's apartment, a suspected forged driving license was also found.

The 30-year-old was arrested for transporting 13 gold bars and coins, suspected of being smuggled, in a Porsche Cayenne vehicle.

Further checks revealed that 4,000 euros and 93,000 lek were found in the vehicle, while a fake driving license was found in the apartment.

The items and the vehicle are seized.

In implementation of the special plan of measures for conducting checks on luxury vehicles, with the aim of verifying the source of the money with which they were purchased, the specialists for the Investigation of Economic Crimes, in cooperation with the services of the Operational Forces and "Eagle", stopped for verification, a "Porsche Cayenne" vehicle, driven by citizen AB, 30 years old, resident of Roskovec.

During the search of the vehicle, carried out as part of the operation codenamed "Gold", 9 gold coins, 4 gold bars, 4,000 euros and 93,000 lek were found. The 30-year-old did not have any documentation regarding the origin/source of the valuables or the money.

Further, a search was conducted at his apartment, where a suspected forged driving license was found.

At the conclusion of the first investigative and procedural actions, the 30-year-old was arrested for the criminal offenses of "Laundering the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity", "Trading and transporting contraband goods" and "Forgery of identity cards, passports or visas".

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action, as well as for the initiation of a property investigation, with the aim of documenting the source of the valuables and money found on the 30-year-old.
