Assessment for students is simplified, exams for 7 subjects are removed

Starting from the new school year 2022-2023, the assessment of students in pre-university education will be simplified by becoming more transparent, reliable and equal for all students.

Education Minister Evis Kushi said that teachers will also be relieved of bureaucracies and will focus more on interacting with students. "Grading will be objective while teachers will be relieved of bureaucracies," said Education Minister Kushi.

"The difference lies in the fact that the teacher will evaluate the student with a grade throughout his continuous progress. Ongoing assessment will aim to measure student achievement through the use of all forms, and opportunities that will be given to students such as written, oral assessment, homework, class assignments, oral response, based on in clear assessment criteria, giving the student the opportunity to progress from one level to another. The difference lies in the fact that we have tried to lighten the workload of teachers, so teachers will evaluate students throughout the period with a grade for his achievements and put the grade in the register, teachers keep the evaluation of student performance on his computer or in the notebook, that's part of his freedom. In the end, the teacher finally puts this grade in the register, so the teacher is also facilitated by reporting the students' achievements to the parents. But here there will be no lack of argumentation of the grade, thus highlighting the weak and strong points of the student ", said during the presentation the education specialist at ASCAP Evis Mastori.

For practical subjects such as physical education, sports and drawing health, music, theater, ICT and technological ability assessment will be done only with a summary task no longer through the classical test. This according to the education expert at ASCAP is done in order to relieve students from the burden of exams in any subject. “For subjects such as: Physical education, sports and health, Visual arts, Music, Dance, Theater, ICT and Technological training, the assessment is done only with a summary task. The teacher constructs the summative task in accordance with the features of the subject, but always taking into account the achievement levels for the respective subject. Assessment with test or summary task is performed in the last part of the period. The school administration manages the time for the development of tests / summative assignments at the end of the period. The evaluation of the test / summative task is reflected in the register. The summative tests / assignments are saved until the end of the school year ", said during the presentation the education specialist at ASCAP Evis Mastori.

The evaluation changes were made by a working group with representatives of education offices, school principals and teachers of primary education teachers and other cycles, giving the process the right time to make the fairest decisions in the interest of students and teachers.

During this process, according to the Ministry of Education, changes were noticed and then reflected that would facilitate the work of teachers, maintaining the principle of transparency, validity of evaluation, balance between the workload of students and teachers.
