Albanian traffickers are "always one step ahead" to smuggle people into Great Britain. These are the words of one of the British immigration experts quoted by " The Sun ".

According to him, gangs "adapt" and have found new ways to defeat border officials and hide immigrants.

The statement comes shortly after British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak vowed to deport an increased number of illegal Albanian immigrants. It was revealed that a third of the 33,029 migrants who crossed the Channel between January and September last year were Albanian. Speaking to Piers Morgan this week, the Prime Minister promised to "increase" the number of illegals being turned back.

"I will work with the Albanians to establish a new agreement that means for people who come from Albania illegally, we will be able to remove them to Albania and this is already happening. We are returning illegal migrants from Albania on flights and this will increase during the year", said Sunak.

In recent years, the British government has sought to target criminals who control people-smuggling routes from Albania to the UK. However, the expert told The Sun that the crime bosses behind the trade are unlikely to be bothered by Mr Sunak's strong words.

"Smugglers are always ahead of the government. They will change and adapt, but they will continue to bring people in," he said.

He explained how gangs have been trafficking Albanians to Great Britain since the late 90s.

Identifying the two main routes used by the gangs, he explained that “gang bosses recruit corrupt truck drivers in Belgium and France. They then bribe them to carry people in their cargo in the back of the truck. When the truck arrives in Britain, the illegals leave it in the car park. Then the relatives come and take them."

The source said gangs are paid around £18,000 per person and the second route involves using false documentation. "Gangs have Albanians in the EU with the ability to create fake, fully biometric passports. They can also create fake driver's licenses. Gangs pay between £2,000 and £3,000 for fake passports. Once you have one of these, just fly into London as a tourist and you're in. It is a multi-million dollar business," he said.
