The Democratic Party is expected to hold its next protest in the capital this Friday, at 7:00 PM, which Democratic leader Sali Berisha has described as part of a "peaceful uprising."
In his latest statements, Berisha has stated that the opposition is "in the last mile" of political action.
Meanwhile, the State Police has taken the necessary measures, while calling on protesters to respect the limits of the protest permit and enforce the law during the rally.
According to the head of the State Police, Skënder Hita, the protest is authorized only in the designated area on the boulevard, while any deviation from the approved itinerary will result in the intervention of law enforcement structures.
"Regarding the protest that will take place tomorrow, the State Police has taken all measures to ensure that the protest is organized and held in a calm and peaceful manner. Permission has been requested for the 'Martyrs of the Nation' boulevard and it should be concentrated there. In the event of illegal actions by the protesters, action will be taken based on standard procedures and on the basis of the law and the Criminal Code," Hita declared yesterday during a media conference.
Roads that will be blocked
From 23:45 on May 7 until the end of the rally, traffic will be blocked and parking will not be allowed on Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, from the area known as Ura e Dajtit to "Ismail Qemali" Street.
From 3:00 PM on May 8 until the end of the rally, vehicle traffic will be blocked in the segment from the intersection near the Ministry of Interior to Mother Teresa Square.
There will also be restrictions on the streets: "Free Ukraine", "Pope John Paul II" and "Ismail Qemali".
Meanwhile, we remind you that the United States Embassy in Albania has issued a notice to American citizens, advising them to be cautious.
"Although protests and large gatherings often begin peacefully, the situation can change quickly," the embassy statement said.
American citizens are urged not to attend the event and to exercise caution when traveling in the capital. It is also reported that embassy staff have been instructed to avoid the area where the protest will take place.
Two days ago, Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha convened the parliamentary group to discuss today's protest, calling on MPs to dedicate every minute to it.
"We are on the eve of May 8, an extremely important event for the Albanian opposition and for Albanians. Therefore, once again in the most determined way, I call for us to dedicate every minute, every hour, to the preparation of this act of peaceful uprising of May 8, as the most important message that we convey to Albanians in the conditions when they are trying by all means to discourage them," Berisha said.
Addressing the deputies, the democratic leader asked them for commitment to turn the DP into the main force working for the future of the country.
