Due to the deterioration of hydrometeorological conditions in the Gulf of Vlora and in the open sea, maritime authorities have decided to ban navigation for small vessels and fishing vessels today, May 8, 2026.
According to the official announcement, starting at 08:00, strong winds are expected in the south-southeast direction with forces up to 6-7 force, speeds of 15 to 20 meters per second and waves reaching 1.5 to 2.5 meters in height.
For this reason, it is prohibited to issue departure permits to all small vessels and fishing vessels operating outside the Gulf of Vlora until 10:00 PM.
The authorities have called on all entities operating in the maritime field to take measures to secure vessels in the port and increase the readiness of crews, in order to avoid any danger or emergency situation.
Meanwhile, international maritime transport ships will continue operating normally according to their respective destinations.
According to forecasts, an improvement in the hydrometeorological situation is expected after 22:00 on May 8, 2026.
