Weapons seized in Pogradec

An arsenal of weapons and explosives was seized during the police operation in the village of Starovë in Pogradec, a 40-year-old man was handcuffed.

Weapons, believed to be of the post-World War II era, looted during the '97 civil conflict, were hidden in a cattle shed.

The police suspect that 40-year-old Alti Jashallari was planning to transport them to North Macedonia.

 

Police Notification:

The operation, thanks to police intelligence and cooperation with citizens, developed after several weeks of investigations by the Pogradec Police Station, to crack down on criminal activity in the field of illegal weapons possession.

A 40-year-old man, with a previous criminal record in the field of production and sale of narcotics, who possessed an arsenal of weapons and military ammunition, was arrested.

A light machine gun was seized; an automatic firearm; two semi-automatic rifles; a significant amount of combat ammunition; firearm combs; 1 machine gun necklace with 30 bullets; an offensive hand grenade and removable parts of the rifle, which it is suspected that this citizen would traffic in the direction of North Macedonia.

The Specialists for the Investigation of Crimes of the Pogradec Police Station, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction Korçë, following the control of the territory and the work for the prevention, identification and suppression of the illegal activity of carrying weapons without a permit, after several weeks of investigations, they successfully finalized the coded operation "Starova". As a result of this operation, the citizen was arrested in the act:

- AJ, 40 years old, resident of the village of Starovë, Pogradec, previously convicted for the criminal offense "Production and sale of narcotics".

Në bazë të informacioneve të siguruara nga inteligjenca policore dhe bashkëpunimit me qytetarët, se një shtetas posedonte në banesën e tij një arsenal armësh, shërbimet e Policisë organizuan veprimet dhe lokalizuan shtetasin A. J., në fshatin Starovë. Gjatë kontrollit të ushtruar në ambientin e një stalle bagëtish, e cila ndodhej në afërsi të banesës së tij, u gjetën të fshehura:

Një mitraloz i lehtë; një armë zjarri tip automatik; dy pushkë gjysmëautomatike; një sasi e konsiderueshme municioni luftarak; krëhëra automatiku, pushke dhe mitralozi; 1 gjerdan mitralozi me 30 fishekë; një granatë dore ofensive; pjesë të lëvizshme të pushkës, të cilat u sekuestruan në cilësinë e provës materiale.

From the conducted investigations, it is suspected that the citizen AJ would traffic the arsenal of weapons and military ammunition, in the direction of North Macedonia. Work continues on the complete documentation of this illegal activity.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Korçë General Jurisdiction, for further actions.
