Ulsi Manja, Minister of Justice, said that at this Thursday's government meeting, two important decisions were approved that affect the former owners.

He said that a decision has been made to postpone until 2028 the compensation of former owners and until this period, 15.9 billion lek have been foreseen, divided into 3 years.

" Today we have two pieces of good news for former owners. We just passed an amendment to Law 133 of 2015 on the completion of property processes and compensation of former owners. These are two amendments that deal with the extension of the deadline related to the review, evaluation and compensation of properties.

The deadline was set for December 2024, but we have extended the deadline for reviewing and evaluating the unprocessed files of former owners until December 2027. Meanwhile, the deadline for compensating former owners will be extended until December 2028. These are two very important changes because it gives the agency the opportunity to express its opinion on more than 7 thousand files. In the medium term for 2025, we have foreseen about 3 billion lek for compensating former owners, 5.3 billion lek for 2026-2026, and for 2028, which is the last year of compensation, the compensation amount is 7.6 billion lek.

"Also, today we passed a decision that concerns the financial compensation of real estate owners affected by illegal constructions ," said Manja.
